While we were still in New Jersey we went to the beach one day and little did I realize the temptations for cooked food while there.
We went to Point Pleasant Beach which has a big boardwalk on it.
I don’t know why but going into that kind of environment really stimulated our appetites for cooked food. But not for our 3 year old Andrew. The smells, the sounds and the sights made the cooked food appear enticing.
Of course, if those restaurants served Savory Veggie Stews –http://SavoryVeggieStews.com I wouldn’t have had a care in the world.
The same thing happened to me and Karmyn when we took Andrew to this carnival that was in town last year.
They had all of these great rides. But along with the rides were all kinds of food vendors. The smells were hard to resist.
There seems to be some kind of connection with smells, sounds and sights and your emotions.
Odors elicit a strong emotional state. They bring back memories.
I think little Andrew who doesn’t eat cooked food, wasn’t interested in any of the ‘caca’ because those smells didn’t mean anything to him.
Sure if he saw people eating that it would make him curious. But he didn’t know what he was missing and therefore didn’t care.
Of course, we didn’t eat any cooked food at Point Pleasant or at the Carnival. We have plenty of fantabulous raw foods to eat when we get home.
But I’d simply warn you that if you’re first starting out going 100% raw, don’t torture yourself by going to carnivals or boardwalks. It could be more than enough to get you to cheat.
Of course, The longer you stay 100% raw the less this is an issue and the much easier it is to resist these smells and sensations.
Ok, hope our experience will inoculate you from doing the same thing. Especially within your first 6-months of being 100% raw.
