This Hang-Up Is Killing You, But You Don't Care

Would you give up your taste buds (or the ability to enjoy food) forever, for fifty million dollars in cash?

I think most people would say no. Because enjoying food is such a big part of life for most people.

You quickly realize this when going on a water fast. Soon into the fast you discover how much you take food for granted.  Eating is a pleasure more important to most people than sex.

So what is this "Hang-Up" that is killing you? It's the fact that most people place higher importance on eating cooked food than their health, happiness, fitness and mental abilities. I've created a revealing chart below that'll show you how your priorities are likely all out of whack if you aren't already 100% raw.

This chart could just be the boost you need to convince yourself that it's time for you to go raw and step up to a new life of possibilities and wonder.

You'll also realize that you don't have to give up…

You'll also realize that you don't have to give up great tasting food when you go raw. I include the recipe I mention below in the comments section of this post.

Think about this?

redcheckshadow.gif  Would you give up looking 15 to 20 years younger, rather than going on a 100% Raw Food Diet?

redcheckshadow.gif  Would you prefer being a 70 pound overweight ball of blubber, rather than going on the mouthwateringly delicious 100% Raw Food Diet?

redcheckshadow.gif Would you rather feel the pain of debilitating migraine headaches every day, instead of going on a 100% Raw Food Diet?

redcheckshadow.gif  Would you prefer having arthritis and not being able to bend your knees, rather than going on the ultimate diet on the planet, the 100% Raw Food Diet?

redcheckshadow.gif  Would you give up having more energy than a 7 year old, rather than discovering the "Fountain Of Youth" called the 100% Raw Food Diet?

redcheckshadow.gif  Would you prefer to suffer the pain of forgetting who you are with Alzheimer's disease, rather than eating your natural diet, the 100% Raw Food Diet?

The bottom line is this, if you loved the taste of raw food and hated all the negative side effects of eating cooked food, you'd be eating a 100% Raw Food Diet right now. That's assuming of course that you're doing the raw diet correctly and in a sustainable manner.

This is what held me back from maintaining 100% raw for five years. But for most people it's the addiction to cooked food and all sorts of fears about not getting enough protein, etc. that are holding them back. But if you hated what cooked food did to you and loved the taste of raw food, you'd find it quite easy to stay 100% raw.

What most cooked food addicts don't realize is that simple raw foods and simple raw food recipes can taste so good you'll crave them. Just a little while ago I made myself a fantastic salad. (The recipe is in the comments section below of this post.)

But this was no ordinary salad, it actually was quite hearty tasting blended salad. And I didn't even use dressing,  oil, vinegar, spices or fatty food of any kind. I absolutely loved this salad. I had two huge servings of it.

HowToGoRaw.com members get all sorts of delicious and easy to make raw recipes. We have a recipe forum, links to all sorts of raw recipes on the net and Instant Raw Sensations: Frederic Patenaude's quick, easy and delicious raw recipe book.

I like Instant Raw Sensations so much because:

* Finish recipes in 10-minutes or less

* Easy-To-Find Ingredients

* No Special Equipment Required

I feel full and yet I only consumed about 120 calories at this meal. Raw foods taste outstandingly delicious once you develop what I call Gourmet Taste Buds. With gourmet taste buds, (which you naturally develop if you eat simply) you can taste the exquisite flavors in fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds without the need for adding spices.

You certainly don't need to cook a food to make it taste good. In fact, raw foods have much more flavors than cooked foods. Cooking removes the flavor. The only way to make cooked foods taste good is by adding spices.

And yet if it's spices you crave, you can still add them to your raw food recipes.

You're Wrong If You Think… that you have to give up great tasting food when you switch to going on a 100% Raw Food Diet.

I love my breakfast, lunch and dinner. It takes no effort or willpower for me to stay raw at all. It's not because I'm blessed with some kind of super willpower, it's simply because I've been 100% raw long enough to have given up my former obsession with cooked food.

Below I'm including a objective chart that compares the advantages of cooked food over raw food. As you'll see, in almost every category, raw foods win.

If going raw actually tastes great and it has so many advantages, then what are you waiting for? It's time for you to go 100% raw. You're not giving up anything more than being fat, old, ugly and stupid.

Because that's what cooked food slowly does to you. It makes you fat, old, ugly and stupid. Why not join the smart crowd of people at http://www.HowToGoRaw.com who've chosen to be thin, youthful, beautiful and above average intelligence.

Here's the chart comparing the advantages of Raw Food versus cooked food. If they're both advantageous in a partidcular category then I marked them both off.

I challenge anyone to tell me any other diet that can bring all of these life-changing benefits. Breatharianism doesn't count since 99.99999% of people aren't capable of doing that.

No other diet can compete because no other diet is as healthy as the Raw Food Diet. No other diet is a low in toxins as the Raw Food Diet. Every other diet no matter how convincing the guru makes it sound is actually poisoning you.

Is BEER raw ???? (Although ingredients are cooked for a short time)

Jen Larsen @ 8:12 pm

Hi Roger,

I really enjoy your posts, and at this point, eat about 60% raw. I do love my yogurt, and beans, and fish, however. Can you please talk a little bit about how you fulfill your protein needs on a raw diet? I have been a vegetarian in the past, not completely raw though, and found that I feel better when I eat a significant amount of protein every day. How would the raw diet address this?

Thanks!

Would you be willing to share with us what ingredients you put in your blended salad that you mentioned?

Thanks,

Beer is not raw. But if something is raw is not the main question. The more important question is; Is it healthy?

Because you can get raw wines, but I don't in any way advocate drinking wine just because it is raw. Alcohol is more dangerous than even cooked food.

So I'd find a way to go raw and have a natural high all the time so you don't need to or even desire drinking alcohol.

Roger

Roger @ 10:51 am

Hi Jen,

Protein simply isn't an issue. You felt good for other reasons besides the actual protein. Humans need very little protein in fact we don't need and can't even use protein directly.

Our body can only use amino acids and they are the highest quality and undamaged by cooking in raw foods.

Why do we need more protein than in mother's milk which is about 6% protein.

http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c201X.html

The needs for protein are way overstated. What you likely needed was the emotional feeling of heaviness created by the protein. Because protein is the last macro nutrient the body uses as fuel.

Carbohydrates are first and then fat when it comes to usefulness as fuel for humans.

I know people who've been 100% raw for over 40 years. They don't have a protein deficiency. I have bigger muscles than ever and I mainly eat fruits and vegetables. There's more than enough protein if you simply consume enough calories from a variety of raw fruits and vegetables.

Dawn,

My salad yesterday. One reason it tasted so good was that the spinach I used was really of high quality.

Ingredients:

2 Plum tomatoes
.5 Cucumber
1 Stalk of celery
1.5 Teaspoons of truly raw agave nectar. (This really improves the flavor while not drowning out the natural flavors.)
5 oz Of spinach

Blend above ingredients in a blender, Vitamix or similar is quicker.

Then I add chopped vegetables like tomato, cucumber, celery and tomatillo on top of the salad and mix in with a spoon.

I have a great chopping tool that I use every day that saves me lots of time.

I have a link to it here:

http://thinkandgoraw.com/products.htm

It's the Vidalia Chop Wizard. In any case, this makes for a hearty tasting salad and it takes me only 7 minutes or less to make it.

Cliff @ 8:39 pm

Roger,

You're not standing on firm ground with your "Emotional & Spiritual" section. The "ability to tune into divine love" bit is particularly ridiculous. I eat a low fat raw vegan diet and I am an atheist.

Roger @ 10:30 am

Hi Cliff,

I used to be an Atheist as well. At the time I would have thought that stuff about Divine Love to be ridiculous also.

I believe what I see and what I experience. This is something I know from many personal experiences and therefore I feel it's important to share that with others.

And there is no question that it's easier to to tune in spiritually when you're on a raw food diet. If you don't want to acknowledge your true self, that doesn't invalidate what I've said.

Cheers, Roger
