3 Miracles… One Happened Yesterday
Did you ever see or experience something and believe it could only have been possible due to a miracle from God?
That's what I believe I saw tonight while watching the Superbowl in which the New York Giants defeated the previously undefeated New England Patriots.
I've been watching football for a little over 30 years and never have I ever seen the likes of which what happened tonight. For some unknown reason I think God wanted the Giants to win. They were huge underdogs and they manhandled the Patriots.
The way they won was absolutely miraculous. (Not to say they didn't put tremendous effort and training into winning as well.) I'm not going to get too much into details because many of you might not be interested in football. But there were some crucial plays toward the end of the game in which it seemed only God could have made them possible.
All throughout the game I was in shock. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Especially the play were Eli Manning was about to be sacked within the last 2 minutes of the game. He had two different Patriots who had him in their grasp.
Normally he just would have been sacked or tackled. But after being in their grasp what seemed like an eternity, he miraculously got away from them and then through a pass up for grabs like a Hail Mary play.
Then David Tyree jumped up and caught the ball while the defender was trying to knock it out of his hands. He basically caught the ball on the top of his head and gained possesion while the defender's hand had the ball as well. In most situations the receiver would never be able to make that play.
In fact, the game should have been over when the Patriots defender missed an easy interception just a bit earlier. But I think God wanted the Giants to win.
In just that one play alone I believe there were two miracles. No way he should have caught that ball, but he did. ANd no way should Eli have been able to escape being sacked on that play. And of course the were a couple of other plays in which you could have said the Giants were just plain lucky.
But maybe, just maybe there was some Divine intervention as well.
There have been times in my own life when I thought the same thing. Two times when I was playing basketball. At those times I was playing with kids who were much better than me. Basketball was not my sport.
Every shot I took wasn't even close to the basket. I stunk and everyone including the gym teacher new it. I was throwing up air balls with really bad form. But on one occasion I just threw the ball up and it seems it was literally redirected into the basket. This happened to me twice on two different occasions playing basketball.
There's no way those shots should have been anywhere near the basket. But they went in. As a consequence of those shots I played better and gained a bit more confidence in myself. I wish I remember exactly how I felt because I'm sure there was a spiritual message or lesson that I learned because of those miraculouos shots.
Maybe the message was that there is a higher power.
On another occasion I experienced another miracle of sorts. I think I've written about this before. I was sitting on the wooden floor in gym class and we were taking attendance. There were lots of kids sitting in several lines in the gym.
I had a nickel and I just rolled it forward on it's edge on the ground. That nickel proceeded to start rolling and very slowly, in a perfect circle. In part of it's journey it even rolled under the legs of one of the kids that was sitting down. But that kid didn't interfere with it's journey. She just watched in amazement.
And after what seemed a long time, it finally came right back to me. I didn't have to move at all. It was like a boomerang. It rolled in a perfect circle with about a 12 foot diameter.
If I tried to do that on purpose and rolled a nickel 100,000 times in a row, I doubt that would ever happen again. I wasn't even trying to roll it in a circle. It just happened.
I remember this one kid who saw what happened and he was amazed as well. I know he believed he witnessed a miracle or something out of the ordinary. He shook his head and gave me a funny look.
So what good do these mini-miracles do for us? Maybe it's one way that God makes his presence known to us. For me, I know of God from my inner experiences. And maybe these miracles help to strengthen my belief.
Yes there could be other explanations besides God, but that is what I prefer to believe.
Maybe the ultimate experience is when we realize that "We Are Gods." We have such incredible power and potential inside of us, it's almost inconceivable. You can only sense this power when you go within. It's engine is your Imagination.
I believe that if you can imagine it, you can become it or create it. If you can imagine God, you can be God. And maybe you can't be THE GOD or the only God, but I do believe we are all Divine copies of God with unlimited potentials.
We are all Superbeings.
So this is just a friendly reminder to wake the Superbeing inside of you up.
