How to Trick Yourself Into Shape

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been staying in Oregon with my father and tying up loose ends.

I have to figure out what stuff to ship to Hawaii and what stuff to sell, give away and or throw out. And I need to try and sell my truck. I’ve already extended the trip one week and quite frankly could use an additional week.

This excess time pressure has got me in the mindset that I didn’t have any time to exercise.

There’s literally this heavy thought in my head telling me I have no time to exercise or to even send you emails.

But then today I found a way to trick myself into exercising. I figured that I must at least have a minute to spare.

So I decided to do push-ups for one minute. Actually I only did them for 45 seconds and then I stopped.

Depending on your conditioning you may not be able to last more than a few seconds or be able to do a full minute or longer.

But I wasn’t pushing it. I just wanted to get my blood pumping.

Then I figured I surely must have another minute.

So I did my Lightning Speed Exercise which like push-ups is a compound muscle exercise. This means you work lots of muscles at once.

I ended up doing them for about 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Then I decided to do some pull-ups.

Then after that I did my Atlas Greek Gods shoulder exercise.

Each exercise inspired me to do the next one. Yet there have been many days here in Oregon where I haven’t done any exercise except walking or unpacking boxes.

So even with just five minutes I feel 200% better. And quite frankly five minutes is infinitely better than 0 minutes.

So if you think you don’t have time to exercise surely you have 30 seconds or a minute to expend for exercise under most circumstances. Do that 1-minute and you may find yourself so pumped up that you want to do more and more and then some more.

I actually got a natural high going and it came after my set of push-ups and continued with the other exercises.
