Man I used to love eating pizzas of all kinds.
I fondly remember going with my father to the Pizza Hut in Albany, New York on our way to or from a skiing trips to Vermont.
So we’d always go in and order ourselves a large deep dish pan pizza. Of course, this pizza was loaded with cheese and a huge crust.
Little did I know at the time that eating pizza was causing me several health problems and made me much more likely to “catch” a cold or flu.
Below I’m going to explain 3 reasons how and why this happens:
1. It forces your body to create high levels of mucus which then get stuck in the bottom of your lungs.
You might have been told in childhood that you should not drink milk when you get a cold because it creates lots of mucus. Well true dat.
And same with eating cheese.
There is something extremely clogging about eating cooked dairy from a cow in any form. But I have also found that raw dairy is clogging or mucus forming as well.
2. This excess mucus in your lungs makes it impossible for you to breathe deeply.
The problem is once you start eating milk and cheese regularly it simply overpowers your body’s ability to detoxify itself. It simply will not have the energy necessary to get rid of this constant flow of excess mucus.
So you know what it does?
It stores that mucus at the bottom of your lungs.
Years ago when I went on a 100% raw food diet (no dairy) I noticed that in my first month of being 100% raw I was constantly spitting up mucus. And once I finally cleaned out the mucus I was able for the first time in years to effortlessly take deep breaths. Because before the bottom of my lungs where simply filled with mucus.
I know this because I have at times spit out that mucus when playing basketball and getting totally winded.
But now I can run super intense hill sprints and never spit up mucus from my lungs anymore.
One of the absolutely vital factors in attaining radiant health is the ability of your body to fully absorb oxygen. Well if your lungs are covered in thick and gooey mucus then it’s simply impossible for you to get enough healing oxygen inside your body.
3. The excess mucus is a source of food for the “germs” that “cause” colds.
Now the other reason that the mucus can cause you to “catch” a cold is because that mucus serves as a food for the viruses, bacteria and pathogens that supposedly cause colds. All that extra mucus does not belong in your body and it’s loaded with toxins too.
And what I’ve noticed since being 100% raw that I reduced the number of colds I “caught” dramatically. And this is precisely because I got all of the excess mucus out of my body.
But also something else happened.
When I did get a cold I never again suffered as much as in my cooked food days. The colds would be lower fever, lower misery, lower duration and way lower in the mucus department.
So there’s no question that eating mucus forming foods like dairy and pizza which is doubly mucus forming because it also contains bread (the pizza crust) is a major reason people catch colds and flues. By the way I originally learned this information from Professor Arnold Ehret from his classic book “The Mucusless Diet Healing System.”
Of course, I have proven this repeatedly to myself. So it’s not just theory “I know it for a fact.” Most people eating breads and pizza’s will dramatically increase the mucus levels in their body and make them much more susceptible to catching a cold.

Of course, I had hoped that by going raw I’d completely eliminate getting colds.
It has worked amazingly well with flues as I’ve never gotten a flu in the past 15 years I’ve been 100% raw but I still did get minor colds from time to time.
Removing mucus forming foods was a great first step.
