Raw Demolition Man's Identity Revealed
Thanks for everyone who participated in the quiz. The first person to get the complete answer correctly was J with his second post at 4:11pm. I'll be sending him or her (don't know from the letter J) a one year membership to http://HowToGoRaw.com.
I was surprised at how many people got all three answers correctly.
The correct answers to the questions are:
1. Who is Raw Demolition or Pineapple Fred?
Frederic Patenaude of http://snurl.com/aplaw
2. What country am I in?
Costa Rica
3. What is the name of the beach I went to?
Playa Ventanas or Windows Beach in English
==========
Why Was Frederic Called Raw Demolition?
Back in the ancient times when Frederic Patenaude used to work for Nature's First Law he was first named "Pineapple Fred" because of his love of pineapples. Then later he acquired a different nickname. R.C. Dini called him "Raw Demolition" because in his early days of raw eating he would devour and demolish any fruits in sight and leave a wake of raw food destruction and mess in his path.
Fred's first language is French but his English is really fantastic. He knows almost eveything I know in English. I'm just helping him improve a few words. Otherwise he knows all sorts of sayings that I didn't expect him to know.
His Spanish is also much better than mine. He has no problem communicating with the Costa Ricans. Then we visited Cascara Verde and he was talking to this other guy in German. I understood just a little bit of his conversation. If you want to learn a language quickly, the way Frederic does, then check his website out:
How to Learn Any Language in a Flash
Yesterday I took a hike with Frederic up this river area near our hotel to see some waterfalls and to bathe in the pools. But we didn't have time to get to the really nice waterfalls. Maybe we'll try again another day.
Today I saw two parrots in the tree outside our balcony. I did take a video of one of them. Not sure how it will come out. My internet time is limited these days while I'm down here. They also have squirrels down here in Costa Rica. But they are sort of yellow in color and eat guavas instead of acorns.
We're planning to visit Dr. Douglas Graham at his fasting retreat in the near future. Going to some more beaches as well. So much to explore and so little time.
In any case, I've been having a great time with Frederic. We've found out we have very many interests in common. Now I just need to get out and practice my Spanish more. Haven't had much of a chance lately since we've been in more of a tourist area and had little need for extensive conversations in Spanish. On my way to visiting Fred I spoke in Spanish quite a bit to my Taxi driver Luis and then I met an older gentlemen Orlando who sat next to me while we waited for the bus.
On the three hour bus ride I spoke extensively with Martin. He said my Spanish was pretty good. But in reality I have a long way to go. But I really enjoy learning new words and trying to regain the fluency I lost in childhood. More on that some other time.
All three of these Costa Ricans or Ticos were very friendly and we communicated quite well. Sometimes it required hand signals. I even spoke politics and economics with Martin but I have very little knowledge of those kinds of words. They spoke to me slowly in Spanish and so I was able to understand. Would love to get more Spanish practice while I'm here.
If I get a chance I'll try to upload some pictures or videos while I'm here. But I may do it when I get back instead.
Cheers,
Roger Haeske
